"Coraline" - Tiny Knitting

I LOVE what this lady knits (and I like the sweater she's wearing - I wish I could see all of it). For years (since 2003, since that's the pattern's copyright) I've been knitting special earrings for friends - I use US size 0000 double-pointed needles - they're like metal toothpicks. The pattern is called Los Lobe Hose by Carol's Sockery. The pattern came with the needles.

I have a basket of colored yarn - basically like string. I'd like to know what the lady is using in the YouTube clip. I don't think I'd knit what she's knitting, but who knows ... They are beautiful!

When you change colors on the earrings, do you leave a long tail or just tuck in a shorter one? I like the contrasting heel and toe.

That video is incredible.

Marci, I'll not unattach the main color I'm working with, but when I want to change to another color, like for the heals I'll just start that color. When done with the heal color I'll cut it off (or leave it hanging till that top stripe). These are so small that carrying a color behind the current knitting till you want it again is no big deal. Then when it's all done, cut the threads - they could be tied in a knot on the back side and tuck ends into the sock.

When I'm normally knitting with more than one color, I've learned to knit with two hands, carrying each color in a differing hand and twisting them as I knit so no long threads to be caught on the back.

I'm knitting a shawl right now that I can't do this with, so it's more like tapestry knitting. I leave the differing colors hanging and pick them up when in the next row I'm at that spot in the design again. I'm almost done with it and will post it. It's the hardest thing I've ever knit!!!

Thanks, that is very helpful. I can't wait to see your shawl.
